Twas' The Night Before School Starts

Twas' the night before school starts and all through the house every creature was stirring mostly because they are procrastinators and really bad at organization.

The only child nestled all snug in her bed was the nine year old who YOLOs her way through school and couldn't care less until her alarm goes off in the morning at which point the tears and whining will commence.

And I in my paint stained yoga pants still waiting on laundry to dry had just settled in for a long night of overthinking and worry about the year ahead.

When all of a sudden there arose such a clatter. I didn't get up due to my step count for the day already being well over 10,000.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear but my husband remembering we are out coffee and won't be able to function without it in the morning. I knew in a moment Walmart was in my near future.

More rapid than eagles my car plowed through the Walmart parking lot honking and cursing and calling the people who left their buggies out names.

5:30 AM alarm!!! Now Kenna, now Avery, get up Maizy and Zach! It's time for school and I'm claiming the bathroom first.

As slow as the mom in the self checkout who's two year old wants to "help" they took to their forgotten routines.

Fighting screaming and taking their sweet time they made it out the door to their bus stops leaving nothing behind.

Except two parents in tears with the realization that high school goes by fast and no matter how much you hate it, your kids are growing up and there's nothing you can do.

The chaos of kids only lasts so long, enjoy it while you can.

Have a great first day of school tomorrow moms and dads.
