2 weeks!
So, school has been out for about 2 weeks now due to the holidays and it finally resumes tomorrow! I can't even tell you how happy I am right now! I love my kids to death and I love being with them, but I didn't realize how much they can't stand each other. It's sad I know, because they are twins so you would think they would be best friends, which they are, but they share too many things. They share a room, a birthday, a house, toys, clothes, etc. They definitely need school to be apart and have time without each other with their own friends. I swear if I have to hear, "That's not fair!" one more time, I'm going to the loony bin! And then, when you throw Maizy into the mix, it only gets worse. She has to do everything they do and always be right in their faces. I have to report that Maizy has at least learned manners and she is saying please and thank you, after she attacks you and sits on your head, but still it's progress. This break has been extra gray hair inducing for me because I started making Maizy sleep in her own room in a toddler bed. She has slept with Zach and I since she was born, minus a few months last summer when she miraculously started sleeping in her crib and then stopped when school started. Every night I start by dragging her, kicking and screaming, into her room and then I sit by her bed while she cries until enough time passes and she is so exhausted that she finally gives in and goes to sleep. This whole process usually takes about 25 to 30 minutes which isn't too bad but she doesn't stay asleep all night. She will wake up crying at least 2 or 3 times every night and I will have to go back in there and sit again until she falls back asleep. So, despite all of the busy days and fighting and crying, it has been a good but long holiday! Santa was pulled off without a hitch, even though he (me) was up all night on Christmas eve trying to put together a dollhouse with a million pieces. The big girls also made a final decision on what they are going to be when they grow up. They decided on owning a salon where Avery will do hair, Kenna will do nails, and Maizy will sweep, and it will be called A&M Salon. They came up with that all on their own. Avery says she will still be a veterinarian just as a back up job. Also over the break the big girls got a bedroom makeover with zebra print and hot pink. It took me 3 coats of pink paint to cover the walls and 3 very frustrating days, but it looks pretty cute! When the girls got dressed on Christmas eve, Maizy went into the big girls room and said "Sissy, look at me!" because she thought she looked cute and she wanted them to tell her that. Kenna and Avery told her that she was the prettiest girl in the whole family (a title Avery always tries to claim for herself) and they picked her up and twirled her around, and even though it's not a big deal at all, I got tears in my eyes because no matter how bad Maizy annoys them, they love her so much and they take care of her. Also over the break I watched this show called Extreme Couponing and I decided I wanted to try it. Last Sunday morning the girls got into the paper and pulled out all of the coupons for me and put them in a bag to help me out. It is so funny how these little things that happen everyday mean so much to me, but they do. A lot can happen in two weeks and a lot did happen, and we all survived! Now onto the 2nd semester!!!!!
