On this day exactly six years ago my stomach looked like I had eaten a beach ball and I was so ready to meet my baby girl I could hardly stand it. I just knew she would be the most well behaved, sweet, beautiful little girl there ever was (I was a dreamer then.) I had two kids already and I was like “What’s one more?!” Little did I know this “one more” was a LOT! I have had so many more questions raising Maizy, like, “How do you get a baby to stop crying?” “How long can a baby have colic?” “How do you get your 2 year old to stop throwing fits?” “How do you potty train a hard headed child?” And my favorite, “How do you stay sane while raising your strong willed child?” I never actually figured some of these out, I just learned to live with it and manage.
Maizy is in a league of her own. She dances to the beat of her own drum. I’ve never met another child who's so confident and outgoing yet shy and self doubting. She’s a teenager trapped in a tiny body. She tells me things like, “I don’t like to wear green because it’s a dorky color” and if her PB&J sandwich isn’t made with Sunbeam brand bread she will know and she won’t eat it. She truly cares about her family and friends. Even though she would never admit to loving her sisters. I know she does because when they are sad or in trouble she’s right there trying to fix it. Her hair can go days without being washed or brushed and it still looks like she just stepped out of a salon (not that we go days without washing it or anything;) She once donated a brand new pair of her shoes to charity and when asked why she said “ Because they were from Sears.” They were actually from Target. Her regular talking voice is the equivalent of a normal person’s yelling voice. I think it’s hearing loss, her dad thinks it’s her slightly annoying way of being heard. She talks to her stuffed animals like they are really listening. She NEVER gets up in the morning for school, but on the weekend she’s bright eyed and bushy tailed at 6:00am. I can’t figure that one out. She used to take dance class and loved it, until they made her take a picture in a costume and that was the end of that. She loves playing soccer but only if it’s at practice. If it’s a game, she hates soccer. She always wants people to pay attention to her until the attention is on her. Then she’s shy. She knows the words to every single song there is. Seriously, it drives me crazy. There is so much to her that can’t be explained and that is why everyone loves her. She is the jelly to my toast, the one I love the most crazy maizy kate. #happy#6 #birthdaygirl
