If You Give a Mom a Moment.

So I'm loving my new job! I've been there two and a half months and I feel like it's a great fit for me! I also feel like more than ever I can't catch up with laundry, cleaning, kids, etc. My "me" time has dwindled into almost non existent and it's just so sad. So today while I was trying to carry in 18 Walmart bags from the car after work and a grocery store trip while everyone else was no where to be found I decided I needed a moment. I left the bags and went to sit down, if only for a second. If you are a mom you might know the children's book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." I have read it on many occasions along with the moose and muffin one and the pig and pancake one. If you have not read this book, you should. It's cute. Anyway, sitting there having my moment I was reminded of this book, but not the cute mouse version, my own version. I thought I would share my version with you which  If I actually were to sit and write a real version would be SO much longer!! This is the short one I came up with:

If you give a mom a moment, she'll probably sit down.

Sitting down will remind her that she forgot to clean the spot on the sofa where her four year old wrote her name in ink earlier that day.

She will go to the kitchen to get the stain remover. While she's there she will notice there is still coffee in the pot from the morning brew.

She will clean the pot and wash the dishes that have begun to stack up in the sink.

Washing the dishes will remind her that she hasn't showered in two days and today she HAS to go to the grocery store so showering is a MUST!

So, she scrubs the ink off of the sofa and retreats to the bathroom. She turns on the shower only to realize she's out of shampoo (hence the store trip).

Remembering she's out of shampoo will remind her that she is also out of sugar, butter, and her ten year old needs a poster board for her science fair project. So she will turn off the shower and start a list.

While writing out her grocery list she will begin to wonder if her ten year old has picked a science fair project to do already.

She will spend the next forty five minutes researching "Easy Projects for 4th graders" on Google and printing out ideas.

When she was researching ideas, she came across one about molding foods. This will remind her that today is trash day and the can hasn't been put out to the curb yet.

She will put on her rain boots and her husband's sweater (because of course it's raining) and she will run the can to the curb. When she does this she gets soaking wet. This will prompt her to put on dry clothes which she will soon realize she has none of because her laundry is still in the washer from the night before.

She will put her laundry in the dryer, throw on her PJ's and think to herself, "I need a moment." And everybody knows when you give a mom a moment, she will make the most of it!

the end. Here's hoping you take a moment tonight mom friends!
