So, for the last month or so Avery's front tooth has been loose. I mean really loose. It has been hanging on by a thread and it has been the source of so much drama! I tell her to pull it, she tries, she gets scared, she cries, big fit, then I say forget it and the tooth stays in. I had no idea how traumatizing it can be for a kid to pull a tooth! Anyway, last week I get a call from the nurse at Kenna's school saying that she bit into an oreo at lunch and her tooth started bleeding and became very loose. She also got blood all over her pants and she needed me to bring clean pants up for her. I went up to the school and took her clothes and I waited for her to come to the office and get them so I could see her. She came in with tears in her eyes and I said, "What is going on? Why are you crying?" She told me the story about the oreo and I saw the blood on her pants. Then I asked her to let me see the tooth and to wiggle it for me. She got this panicked look on her face and said "No, mommy don't get me into this!" I couldn't help but laugh. I guess she was thinking about all the nights over the past month that Avery had spent in agony over her tooth and she didn't want to get into that herself. So, I gave her the clothes and told her that it wasn't a big deal and I wouldn't bug her about pulling it out or anything. I was tempted to though, because it was so disgusting just hanging there and every time she ate or brushed her teeth, it would bleed, and I had to listen to her whine about how she couldn't eat anything! Well, she went to spend the night at a friend's house on Saturday night and, of course, while she is eating pizza there, it comes right out in the pizza! I told her that the tooth fairy would come the next night when she was at home because fairies don't come to sleepovers. So the next night I told her to put her tooth in a baggie and put it under her pillow. Later, when she was asleep I went in to do the exchange and I couldn't find the tooth anywhere! I had Zach come in and look and he couldn't find it either. Before too long, we had a chair from the dinning room table in the girls room to stand on (Kenna is on the top bunk) and a flashlight searching for the lost tooth! She never woke up and I finally found the thing inside her pillow case, and NOT in a baggie like I had told her. The next morning she was so excited she found $3.00. So now I get to listen to Avery say, "Why won't my tooth come out?" all day long! Then this morning as Avery is brushing her teeth before school, there is blood everywhere and she shows me how both her front teeth are wiggling together now. I wish this was over because I have never seen so much fuss over loose teeth in my life!! I can't even imagine what other dramas are around the corner with these two girls! Lord help us all!!!
