9. One day when I was keeping kids, and I had 5 that day, I walked outside for 2 seconds to help my mom bring something in and one of the kids shut the door behind me and it automatically locked and none of the kids were old enough to unlock the door so I had to throw a toy through the tiny window above our kitchen sink to break it and stand on top of a tricycle while my mom pushed on my bottom to boost me up and get me inside the house to unlock the door! I think that is why our alley neighbors still laugh at me every time they see me. Thank you Toby!
8.The time I was at McDonald's with the twins when they were barely 2 years old and a little boy, who's mother was letting him act like a wild animal, pushed Avery down and she hit her head on the tile floor and got a big fat goose egg on her forehead. I didn't say or do anything at the time, but I've always regretted that I didn't walk over there to that boy's mom and LET HER HAVE IT!!!!!!
7. What about the time I told McKenna that I had installed hidden cameras in her room so I could see if she was really cleaning her room or just hiding things under the bed and in the closet. She was so paranoid that I would be "watching her" that she didn't go in her room for a month!!
6. Oh, and the week I tried to breastfeed Maizy. Kudos to those who can, but me.......not so much. :(
5. Oh and there is the time recently, when I let Maizy "help" me put an outdoor playhouse together and there were a million screws to it and they were all nicely labeled with letters and it all looked so easy to put together with the directions, and then she dumped the whole screw package upside down and it ended up taking me 8 hours in the heat to put the stupid thing together because I had no idea which screw was which! The thing is still standing. For now.
4. There was the time that we were playing outside and the girls wanted to put the bug spray on themselves. I thought for a second that I better not let them because they could get it in their eyes, but then I thought, hey they're 4 that's pretty old! HA. Kenna decided to use it like it was breath spray and got a bunch in her mouth and I ended up in a panic and on the phone with poison control for the second time that same week! The first time was because Avery ate some of those crystals that come in a packet in the shoeboxes when you get new shoes. It turns out, they aren't dangerous to your health, they are just a choking hazard so that is why it says DO NOT EAT on the packets! Turned out 4 wasn't that old!
3. A week before the girls first birthday, we moved into our house. There was a lot of work that we had to get done quick because we were having their birthday party there the next weekend. We had the girls in the kitchen and we were stripping off 1980's wallpaper when McKenna decided to put a piece in her mouth and choke on it. I had to stick my finger down her throat and pull the piece out and it took me a minute to do it. I finally got it out, but it made me a nervous wreck. I was so paranoid about them choking again, that I actually made them eat chocolate pudding at their birthday party instead of cake the next weekend because I was afraid the cake would get them choked. I was that way for a long time after that and people thought I was crazy, well more people than usual.
2. This one is actually the whole first year of the twin's life. I don't really want to take back the year, but I do wish I could take back the anxiety that comes with being a new mom. I had those girls in the doctor's office almost every other day and I always swore that they were sick or something wasn't right. A lot of the time I was right because they were preemies and they had their fair share of issues, but looking back I wish I had relaxed a little more and just had faith that everything was going to be ok.
1. You probably thought I was going to have some really crazy story for #1 and you were going to think to yourself, "What is wrong with this girl? How have her kids survived thus far?" But, there aren't actually ANY moments in parenting that I would want to take back. These are all just stories. I'm glad for everything that I have done wrong as a parent because if I had done everything right, I wouldn't have learned anything, and let me tell you, I have learned A LOT! Ha Ha. I'll never be perfect, but my kids won't be either so I figure we can mess up together and when we do something right, well we can all go out for ice cream!!!
ok - this made me laugh out loud again! I love it and I remember some of these! And I love you, but you do sound a little crazy! ;)
